The Tellams – Part 3

“Arianna,” David whispered, completely unaware that a few steps away, Coral was listening.

“What is it?” Arianna asked nervously. What if he’d heard her speaking to Coral–about escaping? What if he was about to expose her?

“Arianna, I can’t stop thinking about you.”

Coral frowned in confusion and pushed up against the wall to hear better.

“Uh,” Arianna stuttered, “I…don’t…know what…you mean…”

David placed his hands on the wall behind her, on either side of Arianna’s shoulders, trapping the terrified girl in front of him. “I mean I can’t keep away from you.”

“Leave me alone!” Arianna cried and ducked under his arm, and down the hallway, not looking back.

Coral resisted the urge to shout, and bit her lip angrily instead.

David slowly removed his hands from the wall, and walked down the hall in the opposite direction of Arianna.

“Queen Isabella!” cried David, “I can explain!”

“SILENCE!” she thundered. “YOU SWORE–YOU SWORE YOUR HEART WAS MINE!”

“It wasn’t like that!”

“Oh really? So Arianna was LYING then?!”

“Yes! That never happened!”

The queen narrowed her eyes. “I don’t believe you.” her voice grew louder as she continued, “David Troldsdon, you shall sit in an ice cube jail until I decide you’ve suffered enough.” She smiled coldly. “Have fun.”

“Do I get to be in the same cube as Coral?” he cried as icy guards grabbed his arms.

“I won’t give you that honour. If you’re lucky, maybe I’ll send you to my brother.”

“Isabella!”
